Disney’s popular toys-to-life game, Disney Infinity, has been cancelled, along with the company’s entire self-publishing console business.

Developer Avalanche Software has also been shuttered, resulting in the loss of 300 jobs at the company, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The announcement was made during a recent earnings call where a $147 million charge was confirmed due to "the discontinuation of our self-published console games business, principally Infinity."

The two remaining playsets for Finding Dory and Alice Through The Looking Glass are still set to release this year, general manager John Blackburn confirmed in a blog post.

“Our goal for Disney Infinity was to bring the best of Disney storytelling to life in homes around the world, and with your support we accomplished that. We hope you had as much fun playing the game as we had making it," Blackburn said.

The sudden termination of Disney Infinity comes as a surprise to many, and a huge loss for the development team at Avalanche.
