Disney Infinity 3.0 lands on new Apple TV with Star Wars playset

A console-quality version of Disney Infinity 3.0 has arrived on the new Apple TV set-top box in the form of a Star Wars starter set.

The $100 (around £63) bundle features the game itself, a Disney Infinity Base, A Twilight of the Republic playset, plus Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano figurines.

There’s also a SteelSeries Nimbus Wireless Controller bundled, which will come in handy for all of your gaming endeavours, as well as the web code to unlock the game on mobile devices.

The game itself is downloaded to the new Apple TV via the App Store.

Disney says the game, which also features the Battle of Yavin from Star Wars: Episode IV, will offer graphics somewhere between the quality experienced on the Xbox 360 and PS4 consoles.

Disney is targeting users who don’t have a console in their homes, something Apple is banking on as it seeks to turn the Apple TV into a viable alternative for casual gamers.

Apple TV represents an incredible opportunity for us to bring Disney Infinity to a new audience of players who may not have a game console in their household,” said John Blackburn, senior vice-president and general manager, Disney Infinity.

Disney Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 power discs and playsets are all compatible with the Apple TV game.

If you’re looking to jump into the Disney Infinity universe, which also features Pixar and Marvel, and have just picked up an Apple TV then this is pretty good jumping off point.
