The latest overpriced trainwreck arrives from a greedy designer label.
Clearly those with (far) more money than sense still have a healthy appetite for vastly overpriced, technologically backwards, tacky handsets. After all, this can be the only conclusion to research made by designer Dior which has consequently gone and created this monstrosity:
The Dior phone will be the first in a new line of tasteless handsets the label will flog for in excess of $5,000 (£2,500). Made in conjunction with ModeLabs (which has also come up with similar atrocities for Levi and TAG Heuer) the release is predictably light on specs and heavy on fluff.
In fact all we do know is the Dior phone will feature a touchscreen display inside its clamshell format – something no doubt the company hopes will make up for unforgiveable omission of an external screen (not a problem ”daaaarlings” it encourages you to get the phone out more in public to incite the (s)ridicule(/s) adulation of the unwashed masses). A camera of unspecified megapixels (3.2MP is my optimistic guess) will also make it onboard while presumably some form of multimedia playback will be in there too. Don’t count on a microSD slot though, that was deemed superfluous on Nokia’s current fashion faux pas.
Still, don’t worry about this lack of substance my little heiresses you will get a mini-phone extender dubbed ‘My Dior’ for your troubles which clips on the outside of your Berkin bag and acts like a remote control/homing device for thieves.
So Dior joins Armani, Gucci, Levi, Prada et al in a highly exclusive list that proves once and for all a singularly important point: designers should stick to hemlines.
