Destiny: The Taken King EP has been leaked online yet again, giving us further indication it’ll be officially confirmed soon.
In case there was any doubt as to its veracity, the name of Destiny’s upcoming major expansion has been leaked again, this time from a rather more reliable source.
Packs of Red Bull energy drinks in the US have been spotted in the US with codes for bonus XP and an “epic quest” in Destiny: The Taken King when it launches.
The packaging features The Taken King name and logo that cropped up in a trademark filed by Bungie earlier this year.
As you can see in the images above below from Agrois Endendros on Twitter on the bigger case of Red Bull you can even see references to Red Bull-sponsored pro gamer Michael “Flamesword” Chaves and a sketching of his likeness.
It’s very likely The Taken King will be the name of the major Destiny update coming in September for the game’s one year anniversary.
Bungie has previously said the next EP will effectively be like Desitny 1.5, with a leaked Bungie schedule suggesting the Taken King will be released as a boxed version.
This will perhaps take the form of a Destiny Game of the Year edition-style release, packaged together with all previously released Destiny DLC.

As for the content included in The Taken King, the logo for the EP is very reminiscent of the Hive.
We believe it will explore more of the story of this alien race, perhaps with the eponymous King being Oyrx himself – the father of Crota, who you kill in the first Destiny EP, the Dark Below.
We expect Activation and Bungie will give us more news on The Taken King at E3 2015 in a couple of weeks.
