Destiny’s major September EP to be called The Taken King?

Destiny’s major September EP could be called The Taken King according to a new leak.

A new Bungie trademark for The Taken King has prompted speculation that this will be the name for the next major Destiny EP.

As spotted by NeoGAF user “Kifimbo”, Bungie just trademarked a new name, which we believe could be the name of the September EP release.

That’s partly down to the fact the trademark was accompanied by a logo, which is reminiscent of the Hive.

It could be that The Taken King will explore more of the story of this alien race, with the King himself being Oryx — the father of Crota, who you kill in The Dark Below.

Previously leaked details for the major September expansion suggest the DLC will be effectively Destiny 1.5.

It is believed that the EP will be released as a physical boxed version, perhaps as a Game of the Year style package with the main Destiny game and all previously released DLC.

A description of the trademark is as follows:
“Downloadable video games via the internet and wireless devices; Electronic game software for cellular telephones; Electronic game software for handheld electronic devices; Electronic game software for wireless devices; Game software; Interactive game programs; Interactive video game programs; Video game software.”

The next Destiny EP, House of Wolves, will be released on May 19.
