Bungie has confirmed all Destiny character progression will be carried over into the game’s sequel.
The developer has confirmed its plans for future Destiny games include carrying over all your character data to the new game.
Community manager David “DeeJ” Dague told IGN in an interview that you’ll be able to take your Guardian with you in the next game.
“The idea that the Guardian you have created is something you can bring along with you on that adventure. If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they’ve had a relationship with the same character for a very long time.”
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg confirmed in November that Bungie has already started working on the “next full game release” in the series.
“It’s been no secret that we have a ten-year plan for the expansion and evolution of this franchise, and it’s something that we’re always dreaming about,” said Dague.
“I’ve seen new concept art, I’ve seen new exotic weapons up on people’s screens… it’s been a lot of fun to walk around the studio, because there’s always somebody thinking about the next place you’ll go, the next enemy you’ll fight, the next thing that you’ll earn for doing those things.”
Destiny was released in September for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360. Yesterday saw the first Destiny expansion, The Dark Below, launch on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live.
There’s a second major add-on in the works too, called House of Wolves, but Bungie has yet to offer us information on that DLC.
