Dead Space 3 has topped the UK All Format Gaming Chart following strong opening week sales that have seen the EA published title land as the year’s biggest release to date.
Despite Dead Space 3 recording opening week sales 26.6 per cent down on their predecessor, Dead Space 2, the Visceral Games release has completed the week ending February 9 as the UK’s most popular title, becoming the most successful launch of 2013 to date in the process.
Helping EA secure the week’s top two chart positions, mainstay of the UK All Format Gaming Chart FIFA 13 has held on to the silver medal position ahead Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which has seen a 12 per cent drop in week-on-week sales, rounding out the top three.
With last week’s chart topper Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch seeing its weekly sales drop a hefty 63 per cent, the Namco Bandai release could only manage sixth spot in the UK All Format Gaming Chart during its second week on sale, falling behind Far Cry 3 and Hitman: HD Trilogy in fourth and fifth respectively.
Heading up an unchanged trio of chart clingers, EA’s Need for Speed Most Wanted has rounded out the first full week of February in seventh. Following the open world racer to maintain their eighth and ninth place positions from last week’s chart, Just Dance 4 and Hitman Absolution help prop up the lower ranking locations of the week’s top ten.
Jumping eight places and recording a 50 per cent rise in week-on-week sales, Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed has taken tenth spot thanks to the arrival of a new 3DS rendition of the game, pushing the title into the UK All Format Chart top 10 for the first time, 13 weeks after the game’s original launch.
