Google’s Daydream View VR headset goes on sale in UK

Google’s new Daydream VR headset, the Daydream View, has finally gone on sale, one month after being announced.

Back in october, Google confirmed that the headset would be available November 10 on the Google Store and through retailers in five countries.

In the UK, the headset is available for £69 through EE or Carphone Warehouse, while US customers can get their hands on the View for $79 through either Verizon or Best Buy.

Elsewhere, Canadians will have to pay $99, those in Germany €69, and in Australia the View sells for $119. You can find a full list of retailers on the Google Blog.

In order to use the headset, you’ll need a ‘Daydream-ready’ phone, only one of which currently exists in the form of the Google Pixel.

However, next year’s crop of smartphones is sure to bring numerous new additions to that list, so the View has a bright future ahead of it.

The headset works by dropping a Daydream-ready phone into the compartment on the headset, Samsung Gear-style, which prompt the View to auto-align with that phone and pair wirelessly.

Google also recently announced the first 30 VR experiences that will be available through the Daydream View:

  • Wonderglade – Resolution Games
