What is Dark Souls Remastered?

First released in 2011 for PS3 and Xbox 360, the original Dark Souls essentially created a genre with its challenging combat and daunting exploration, both of which combined to create an unforgettable adventure.

The remastered effort will bring improved visuals and a revamped online component that increases player capacity to 6 instead of 4 and also allows for password matchmaking.

Dark Souls Remastered release date – when is it coming out?

Dark Souls Remastered is launching for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch on May 25.

A Solaire of Astora amiibo is also arriving alongside the game for use on Switch. Using it will allow you to perform the iconic ‘Praise The Sun’ gesture to your heart’s content.

Dark Souls Remastered gameplay – what are the big changes?

Visuals and performance for Dark Souls Remastered will differ depending on the platform you’re playing on. All platforms support 1080p/60fps with the exception of Nintendo Switch which is capped at 30fps with graphics ‘tailored’ for the system.

PS4 Pro and Xbox One X will both support 4K resolutions while all platforms are sporting dedicated servers for online play.
