Dacom Roam is a Bluetooth headset that charges wirelessly

Now most headphones have a handsfree function, you might think a Bluetooth headset is old hat. These guys want to convince you otherwise.

They’ve made the Dacom Roam, which is a Bluetooth headset that charges wirelessly. To juice it up, just plonk it on the charging plate. It’s a lot more convenient than plugging it in, though we’re not sure we buy all the hyperbole about it leading to a better quality of life.

It has plenty more features too. CVC noise reduction helps block out background sound, while the “high quality Bluetooth processor” should mean no more dropped signals or feedback. And the 80mAh battery will make it last six hours of use – or 200 hours on standby – before needing a recharge.

You can connect two phones to it at the same time, and it has a sleek design.

Still, Bluetooth headsets are a little lame. No matter how stylish they are, they can’t shake their travelling salesman image. Which might put some people off.

If you’re interested, it’ll set you back $74 (£51) on an early bird. Pledge $148 (£102) and you’ll get two, so you can wear one on each ear (note: please don’t do this, even ironically). It’s raised over $1,000 of a $25,000 goal. If successful, it’ll ship in May.
