Cyberpunk 2077: Release date, trailer and latest news

Following The Witcher 3’s huge success, CD Projekt Red is set to launch a brand-new IP: Cyberpunk 2077. The internet lost its mind back in January after the official Twitter account posted a message for the first time in five years. Was the tweet a release date? An exciting gameplay trailer? No, it was simply one word, an onomatopoeic word. Here’s why the internet went crazy:

While revealing no information, it at least shows some signs of life in a game that we’ve had no update about in a very long time. Hopefully, it means we’ll get some concrete news soon, perhaps at E3 2018.

Trusted Reviews has compiled everything we know about the game, including all the latest news on the release date, gameplay, characters, story and more.

Cyberpunk 2077 latest news

After the loot box controversy surrounding Star Wars Battlefront 2, many fans expressed concern that upcoming titles will follow a similar trend. Fortunately, CD Projekt Red has emerged to reassure fans that this would be the case with Cyberpunk 2077.

While Cyberpunk 2077 is still a long way off, it’s great to see CD Projekt Red isn’t afraid to make such bold statements.

However, the latest rumours suggest that the game may be launching sooner than expected. As reported by GamePressure, the game could well be playable at this year’s E3, as well as sporting a brand-new trailer. it’s unknown yet which press conference the game will appear at, but the prospect of the game being at the show at all is very exciting.

What is Cyberpunk 2077?

Cyberpunk 2077 is an all-new IP from CD Projekt Red, exchanging Geralt’s fantasy setting for one with a bright, neon sci-fi aesthetic. Set to be an open-world RPG from either a first- or third-person perspective, players can expect a wide departure from The Witcher 3.

Beyond a few key pieces of concept art and sneaky job applications, we know very little about 2077 thus far.

Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay – How does it play?

According to CD Projekt Red, the breadth of Cyberpunk 2077 will be considerably wider than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Night City will be a truly overwhelming environment to explore, filled with unique quests, NPCs and gameplay opportunities. It’s likely to be pretty violent, too.

The player will be able to obtain a series of skills, abilities and enhancements to communicate with the city’s inhabitants, using a digital-recording device known as Braindance. This will likely incorporate itself into combat, too, with players adopting skills that match their favoured playstyle.

We’ve yet to see any actual gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077. It will run on RedEngine 4.0, the latest iteration of the technology that powered The Witcher 3.
