In other words, the lens darkens or lightens depending on how sunny it is, so you can always see clearly no matter what the conditions. Handy for everyday life, but essential for a sport like cycling where you can’t stop to put on or take off your shades. Enter a tunnel for example, and the lenses adjust, so you can see clear as day.
‘So what?’ you might be thinking. ‘That’s nothing new.’ Not in itself, but it’s the way it does it that’s impressive. It takes tech developed for the US special forces and puts it in a consumer product. If it’s good enough for the grunts, it’ll easily handle a stroll through the park.
They’re highly personalisable too. They can switch from full tint to no tint at the touch of a button. In automatic mode, you can also set the threshold at which they tint. So no matter what your level of eyesight, you’ll see exactly what’s in front of you. The nose and temple pads are adjustable for the perfect fit, and the arms and lenses can come in the colour of your choosing.

There’s even a prescription add-on for all the regular glasses-wearers.
They look great, even if you’re more of a fair-weather cyclist. They’ve passed their funding goal on Indiegogo and should ship in November. That’s a perfect excuse to enjoy some winter sun on the winding coastal trails of France’s Côte D’Azur. And there’s always the annual Trans Provence for those handy with a mountain bike too….
