Crysis 3 tops UK Gaming Chart for second week running
Crysis 3 has retained its place at the top of the UK All Format Gaming Charts for the second week in a row, and with FIFA 13 in 2nd place, it has been a good week for EA.
Available for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, Crysis 3 rocketed to the top spot just days after its release, remaining there despite fending off competition from the new Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which currently holds third place.
EA has had a successful week with Crysis 3 and FIFA 13 climbing to second place from its position last week at number three, maintaining its position as one of the top ten UK games despite being released last September.
The previous chart topper Aliens: Colonial Marines has dropped to seventh in the UK All Format Gaming Chart from its position at number 5 last week, following a 55 per cent drop in sales. Another EA former best-seller, Dead Space 3, also dropped two places to eighth this week, just 100 unit sales from the SEGA title.
Filling in the middle of the UK All Format Gaming Chart are Far Cry 3 and Need for Speed Most Wanted, which rose two places each to number five and six respectively, falling into place behind non-mover Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 2 in fourth position.
Completing the UK’s top ten games list, both Assassin’s Creed 3 and Hitman Absolution were non-movers for the week ending March 2, lying in ninth and tenth respectively.
It’s been a quiet week for new releases and it shows in this week’s top 10, which contains no new entries. However, with the multi-platform release of the new Tomb Raider reboot due this week, Lara Croft could topple Crysis 3 from its spot at the top of the UK All Format Gaming Chart before it starts to get too comfortable.
Do you think Crysis 3 deserves a second week at the top of the UK charts? Will the new Tomb Raider game manage to pistol whip the EA title down a few spots? Give us your thoughts via the TrustedReviews Twitter and Facebook pages or the comment boxes below.
