A recent hiring drive has led to speculation the rumoured Apple Car may be manufactured in Ireland.

Silicon Republic reports Apple is attempting to recruit auto industry experts to work at its plant in Cork.

The site has pulled together recent job posts, such as Global Supplier Manager/Procurement Manager with experience in the automotive industry, as first reported by Business Insider. The firm has also put out feelers for auto industry experts for management positions, according to the report.

Finally (via Indeed.com) Apple was advertising for a procurement manager with experience in “automative design.”

The job description explained Apple was seeking applicants who could “achieve most efficient costs for equipment while helping enable Apple’s unique design and testing requirements.”

While none of this confirms Apple is planning to build the car in Cork, it does suggest the city’s Apple plant may have a big role to play in the project.

CEO Tim Cook recently took a trip to Ireland to meet with company employees.

During the visit he also pledged 1,000 new jobs for the Cork plant, which already employs 5,000 people.

Could those employees soon be working on the most secretive Apple product in a generation?
