Microsoft has revealed its Cortana digital assistant will arrive on the Android platform in beta next month.
Following last month’s announcement the Siri and Google Now rival would be coming to Android and iOS, it now seems Android users will get first dibs.
Microsoft hasn’t confirmed a release date yet, simply saying a test version of Cortana will arrive sometime in July.
The Android app will be more of a companion app for Windows users rather than a standalone performer, with Microsoft revealing it will play nice with Windows 10 and the Xbox One.
Microsoft says it’ll the beta will “be able to test as a companion with Windows 10 PCs”.
For example, Android users will be able to set a reminder on their devices and receive notifications on their PC or console.

During its E3 press conference on Monday, Microsoft also announced Cortana will be arriving on Xbox One this autumn for US and UK gamers.
The post added: “On Xbox One, Cortana knows your friends and makes it easy to invite them to play with you through simple voice commands. If you want to record and share a clip of your game play, you can use Cortana to precisely control the length of the recording and quickly share it with your friends without leaving your game. Cortana will also help you find information about games, such as the release date of an upcoming game, or help you get achievements by surfacing videos and information to help you succeed.”
There’s no news yet on when the iOS version might arrive.
