What? You thought the iPhone was going to get all the fun?
Predicable, but no less welcome for it, CoPilot Live for the iPhone is being accompanied by a new version – v8 to be precise – for Windows Mobile and Android handsets. Promising new features designed to take advantage of “the latest touch screen phones” v8 purports to deliver as high a standard a service as a dedicated sat-nav.
Foremost in the improvements is a touchscreen friendly user interface, though voice recognition is also provided with text to speech feedback. Live traffic data and speed limit alerts are provided along with local fuel price and weather information. Some of these additional features will incur a further cost over the standard application, though.
Other features include tunnel guidance – providing directions and an ETA when GPS signal is lost – lane guidance and Real Signpost Information – with signposts displayed in the software correlating to those on road itself. A walking mode extending the use of CoPilot Live form mere in-car navigation.
CoPilot Live v8 will cost £25.99 and Android users should find it in the Android Market already. DVD and SD-card based installs will also be purchasable should you be hell-bent on getting something physical for your cash.
