Game director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed that Final Fantasy 7’s Cloud is now available for download in Super Smash Bros.
There were a number of surprises at yesterday’s Nintendo Direct Smash Presentation, including the reveal of Bayonetta as a playable character.
But the most exciting news for many is the fact that Cloud from FF7 was immediately available for download following the presentation.
The surprise announcement was made at the end of the presentation by Masahiro Sakurai, director of the Smash Bros. franchise.
Nintendo also took the time to provide extensive details on Cloud’s character; such as his potential movesets and alternative costumes.

Players will be able to choose from two different costumes with multiple colour variations.
One outfit is based on Cloud’s standard uniform, while the second takes inspiration from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
In addition to Cloud’s appearance, we also got a good look at the Midgar Stage included with his character.
Picking up and using Materia scattered throughout the stage allows you to use a variety of different summons.
These will not damage other players, but will have an environmental influence on the stage as you play.
Summons in the game will include:
- Ifrit
- Ramuh
- Odin
- Leviathan
- Bahamut Zero
All these will be familiar to fans of Final Fantasy 7, and those excited for the upcoming remake.

Cloud and the Midgar Stage will be available for £5.39 each, or as a £6.29 bundle.
Nintendo also announced that Bayonetta and Corrin from Fire Emblem will be coming to Smash Bros as playable fighters in 2016.
