Clearly we're entering RAZR territory here.
If ever there was clear evidence that a handset is popular it comes when the base model spawns near-endless variants…
Thanks to the good work of Korean based site Sogi, which sat in on an LG briefing, we now have shots of two impending Shine mutants: a clamshelled Shine and the no doubt limited-edition-for-celebrities-only-before-working-its-way-down-the-food-chain-to-the-unwashed-masses golden candybar edition.
Unfortunately, LG wasn’t as free with its specs list as it was with its photography so we know little about these handsets other than they are likely to ship first in Korea and the clamshell is heading to the US courtesy of Verison in July. Now given that mobile phones is the one sector where yanks tend to get held up by the short and curlies I suspect we will be seeing both these models on our shores before then.
In the absence of solid fact I’m also willing to wildly (though intelligently) speculate that neither model will cost much, if anything, on a 12 or 18 month contract and don’t expect much in the way of specification overhauls. After all, LG seems to be following the Motorola approach… which means in 18 months time I’m likely to scream anytime anyone says the word “Sh..INE!”.
See, I’m nearly there already…
