Claimed iPhone 5C press shot leaks online

An iPhone 5C press shot has reportedly leaked online, with the prematurely unveiled image claiming to show off Apple’s mooted budget smartphone.

Hitting the web courtesy of a Romanian retailer, the claimed iPhone 5C press shot is the latest in a long line of budget iPhone leaks and again shows off a 4-inch handset with a rounded-cornered plastic-backed body.

Highlighting the white bodied rendition of the upcoming budget iPhone, the iPhone 5C press shot depicts the device running the upcoming iOS 7 operating which was officially announced during WWDC back in June and will be rolled out later this year.

Although this claimed press shot should be taken with a considerable pinch of salt, the leaked image fits with a number of already outed snaps of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini rivalling device.

Recent iPhone 5C rumours have suggested the handset will be made available in “6-8 colours”, while further reports have pointed to the device packing an array of specs similar to that of the existing iPhone 5. Set to land alongside the flagship iPhone 5S, the iPhone 5C release date has been mooted for a September 10 unveiling.

Despite much excitement surrounding the eagerly awaited handset which would see Apple target the entry level smartphone scene for the first time, not everyone is convinced by its ability to wow the market.

“It is really hard for Apple to make anything low cost, so it’s going to be really hard for them to produce a low cost iPhone,” Tony Fadell, former Senior Vice President of Apple’s iPod Division said in an exclusive interview with TrustedReviews.

Addressing the possibility of a budget iPhone 5C he added: “I think they should [make a low cost iPhone]. We made really low cost iPods so I think there is a way to make a low cost iPhone. I hope they find it in themselves to do so but I don’t know if they will.”
