Google has continued its process of updating its apps to run natively on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with arguably the biggest of them all – Chrome.
Just a day after Google updated Gmail to look better on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus’s Retina HD displays, now the popular Chrome web browser app has received the same attention.
The default view now appears more zoomed out on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, packing in more and smaller text and images. There’s also a zoomed view for those who liked the chunky layout of the pre-update version.
The trouble with the new iPhone 6 and even more so with the iPhone 6 Plus is that they sport boosted resolutions to accompany their large screens. While apps have been designed for the 1136 x 640 display of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S in the past, the iPhone 6 has a 1334 x 750 display and the iPhone 6 Plus a 1920 x 1080 example.
This makes for slightly awkward scaling for existing apps, until the respective developers provide the necessary update.
It’s not just this issue that the new Chrome update has addressed, though. Also added is the ability to open Google Drive documents directly in the Chrome browser, rather than having to jump to the appropriate app.
