Celebrate Google Earth’s 10th birthday with new Voyager feature
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of its globe-trotting Google Earth software, the tech giant is rolling out some neat new features for exploring the planet’s most beautiful and iconic locations.
The new Voyager feature for desktop users collates content from various elements of the service to provide a complete guide to the location of your choosing.
In this first edition, as Google is calling it, there’ll be five sections to explore which are colour-coded as illustrated in the picture above.
There’ll be Street View imagery, Earth View images as seen from space, views of cities in “photorealistic 3D”, the most recent satellite imagery and a highlight tour with “thousands of Voyaer locations to choose from”.
In a post on its official blog, Google offered more info on the new Earth View feature.
The company wrote: “
Earth View, which is now expanding to 1,500 locations, will also be available via the Chrome extension and a brand new web gallery. The company is offering free hi-res downloads for everything from mobile desktops to wall hangings.
