EX-V8 and EX-Z1080 join Exilim range
August continues to be a busy month for new camera launches, with Casio announcing two new additions to its successful Exilim range of pocket compacts.
The first of the new launches is a second model in the new V-series, alongside the existing EX-V7. Like the earlier model the Z8 features a folded-optics non-protruding 7x zoom lens with a sliding cover, a 2.5-inch 230k LCD monitor, face detection technology and CCD-shift image stabilisation, but now offers the additional power of an 8.1-megapixel sensor.
Other features include movie shooting in the 848 x 480 widescreen format at 30fps with stereo sound and full use of the zoom lens, and a special Best Shot mode for shooting H.264 standard movie clips for the popular YouTube video sharing site, complete with special easy-to-use uploading software. The EX-V8 is available in silver or black. No details have been released so far on pricing or availability.
The other new camera is the Exilim EX-Z1080, and advanced pocket compact derived from the superb EX-1050, which features a large 1/1.75-inch 10.1-megapixel sensor, flush-folding 3x zoom lens and a 2.6-inch Bright widescreen LCD display.
Other features include a maximum ISO setting of 6400, 7fps high-speed continuous mode (2MP only, but still quick) and 370-shot battery life. It will be available in grey, black, blue, pink or gold. As with the V8, no details have been released so far on pricing or availability.
