Casio G-Shock STB-100 sports watch launched with Bluetooth connectivity
Casio has launched its first Bluetooth sportswatch at CES 2014, the Casio G-Shock STB-100.
The Casio G-Shock STB-100 uses Bluetooth 4.0 LE to connect to iPhone fitness apps, to present fitness data from multiple sources.
Currently, the G-Shock STB-100 is compatible with four iPhone fitness apps: Runmeter, Walkmeter, Cyclemeter and Wahoo Fitness.
Casio does have plans to extend the number of G-Shock STB-100 compatible fitness apps in the future though.
The G-Shock STB-100 can be used to check fitness data like your running pace, elapsed time and the distance you’ve travelled.
With a cadence sensor, the G-Shock STB-100 can also be able to calculate your cycle speed, pedal rotations and your pulse.
“This is an ideal sports watch for countless recreational runners who exercise with their iPhones,” said Shigenori Itoh, CEO of Casio America. “In addition to the compatibility with several apps, it has a battery life up to two years and a versatile, waterproof design that makes it easy to use and wear before, during and after any workout.”
You can also control the music playing on your iPhone using the G-Shock STB-100’s buttons. The sports watch will also notify on incoming calls and other notifications.
