Casio Announces Ultra-Slim 7x Zoom Compact

Casio best compact just got better,

To give you a sneak preview of my next review I’ve just been looking at the Casio EX-S770, which I’ve described as the best ultra-compact digital camera on the market. Well its reign may be short-lived, because Casio has just announced a new camera that could put it in the shade. The 7.2-megapixel Hi-Zoom EX-V7 features the most powerful zoom lens yet in the stylish Exilim series. It is equipped with a non-protruding 7x optical zoom lens despite being just 25.5mm thick.

As well as this impressive achievement, it also features a mechanical CCD-shift image stabilisation system, alongside Casio’s existing Anti-Shake DSP, all controlled by a motion analysis technology built into the new Exilim Engine 2.0 that sets the most appropriate ISO sensitivity and shutter speed to capture a moving photo subject.

The new image processing engine also incorporates an Auto Tracking AF function that follows moving subjects, keeping them continuously in focus until the photo is taken. It also adds tonal control that lets users keep bright areas of the scene bright by limiting the occurrence of dark pixels. Other new features include improved processing speed, instantaneous colour correction or angle adjustment and the ability to selectively eliminate noise in designated colour regions, such as the sky.

As if this wasn’t enough, the EX-V7 can also shoot high-quality movies using next-generation H.264 video encoding method, which allows 50 per cent extra shooting time with the same picture quality as MPEG-4. It can also record movies in 16:9 aspect ratio compatible with wide-screen TVs, and has stereo sound recording.
