Take that recession!
Some of you may have wondered what radical methods, aside from job cuts, Sony would be employing to stave off further effects of the recession. The answer? Colourful PSPs of course, available to Japan both separately or as part of a PSP Carnival Colors (sic) Value Pack.
Individual systems, in Vibrant Blue, Radiant Red, Bright Yellow and Spirited Green will be priced at ¥19,800 (~£159). Value packs, which pack the PSP a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, an AC adaptor a battery pack, an AC adaptor and a colour-matched carry case will come in at ¥24,800 (~199).
Sony Computer Entertainment Asia has already released the red and blue colours this month, but in Japan they will debut on the 5th on March. The yellow and green consoles will come later, on the 19th to be precise.
Whether these Carnival colours will make their way to the UK or not is yet to be seen. It seems likely that Sony will do anything it can to bolster sales in the current economic climate and who wouldn’t want a brightly coloured PSP?
