Canon EOS 700D launched with 18-megapixel image sensor

Canon has announced the Canon EOS 700D DSLR camera with an 18-megapixel CMOS image sensor and Canon DIGIC 5 image processor.

Delivering outstanding image quality and 5fps shooting, the Canon EOS 700D is suitable for a variety of shooting scenarios, from fast-paced sport to portraits, even at low-light conditions.

Canon EOS 700D Features

The Canon EOS 700D features an 18-megapixel APS-C Hybrid CMOS sensor, powered by the Canon DIGIC 5 image processor, which Canon claims can deliver the highest quality images, with good colour contrast and detail. The camera is capable of 5fps shooting, perfect for capturing fact-moving subjects, and with a native 100-12,800 ISO range, the Canon EOS 700D is great in low-lighting scenarios.

The AutoFocus system is built around 9 high-performance points across the frame, allowing users to keep their subject in focus with speed as their subjects move. The photographer also has the choice of using the automatic focussing system, or adjusting the focus points manually.

The various shooting modes provided by the Canon EOS 700D are accessible via a new, modified rotating dial for simplified usability, whilst the 3-inch LCD touchscreen makes it easier to adjust the settings and review photos from various angles.

The Canon EOS 700D also packs an increased range of creative modes, including Scene Intelligent Auto for scenarios involving children or candlelight for example, as well as Creative Filters like Fish-Eye and Miniature mode.

Users can also capture Full 1,920 x 1080p HD videos, utilising the Canon EOS 700D’s hybrid AF II to keep their subjects in focus.

The camera can be bought with the new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens suitable for shooting landscapes to close-up portraits and includes a 4-stop Optical Image Stabiliser.

Canon EOS 700D Release Date and Price
The Canon EOS 700D will be available from late April and will sport a price tag of £629.99 for the body only. When purchased with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, the Canon EOS will set you back £759.99.
