Cambridge home to UK’s most cautious phone owners

Cambridge is the UK location shown to home the most cautious phone owners in Britain, a recent study by MobileInsurance.co.uk has suggested.

Looking back through site data, MobileInsurance.co.uk has uncovered which towns and cities in the UK have been most likely to purchase insurance for their handsets. Cambridge was revealed as the top town for mobile insurers, as more people in the university town had insured their devices than any other UK location.

Insurance policies purchased through the MobileInsurance.co.uk site showed that more people in certain British locations were buying mobile insurance than others.

Ranking below Cambridge, Bath, Edinburgh, York and Cardiff appeared in the site’s top 5 for the highest percentages of mobile insurance purchases.

People in Bristol, Manchester, Plymouth, Glasgow and Brighton were shown to be the most carefree when it came to the future safety of their mobile devices, with the lowest percentage of residents opting to buy into insurance policies.

“When looking at our site data, we had been noticing obvious patterns in terms of places that insured their mobile phones and places that didn’t seem to bother. It’s interesting how it varies,” said Director of MobileInsurance.co.uk, Jason Brockman.

“What I found quite alarming is that those in Manchester were not very likely to insure their handsets, despite earlier findings from our site showing Manchester to be the mobile phone theft hotspot of the UK. Wherever you live, you should ensure your mobile phone is insured.”

Other data from MobileInsurance.co.uk showed that Londoners are in possession of the most expensive mobile devices like the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3, whilst Torquay residents are touting cheaper alternatives such as the recently released entry-level Nokia Lumia 620.
