Gamers will be able to upgrade current-generation console copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts to Xbox One and PS4 versions, with all content carried over.
Activision has detailed the various ways gamers can upgrade their Call of Duty: Ghosts game for the next-generation, including the special GAME offer for UK residents.
Although the majority of the information provided seems US-orientated, the new Game Ahead package is applicable for those in Europe too. The Game Ahead upgrade service allows gamers to purchase a duo of Call of Duty: Ghosts digital editions for current and next-gen platforms simultaneously.
“Gamers can purchase a disc-less dual-license digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts at participating retailers for a suggested retail price of $69.99. This version will include the Xbox 360 digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, as well as the Xbox One digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts – linked and unlocked via a user’s Xbox Live gamertag.”
Strangely, Activision isn’t offering the Game Ahead service for future PS4 gamers, but does offer Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamers various options through which to purchase their next-generation copies.
“Via the Game Ahead Program, players can also purchase a digital version of Call of Duty: Ghosts directly from the Xbox Live Marketplace for a suggested retail price of $59.99. And, when ready to upgrade to Xbox One, you can purchase a digital Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts for a suggested retail price of just $10 on the Xbox Live Marketplace until March 31, 2014.”
Various retail stores will be offering Call of Duty: Ghosts next-generation upgrade offers, including GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy and the Microsoft.
In the UK, GAME will be offering a cashback trade-in offer for current-generation copies of the game, similar to the service offered for FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4.
“GAME will be giving Xbox 360 players approximately £40 in trade in value when you upgrade to Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One. Offer end December 24th, 2013.”
The Call of Duty: Ghosts release date will see the game rappel in for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC on November 5. The game is a launch title for Xbox One and PS4, which will become available on November 22 and November 29 respectively in the UK.
