Call of Duty: Ghosts to run at 720p on Xbox One and 1080p on PS4, confirms dev
Infinity Ward has confirmed that Call of Duty: Ghosts will run at a different resolution on the Xbox One and PS4.
Following recent rumours that the Xbox One would run Call of Duty: Ghosts at a lower resolution to the PS4 edition, Infinity Ward boss Mark Rubin has confirmed the discrepancy.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will only run in native 1080p Full HD on the PS4. The Xbox One will be output at Full 1080p HD through upscaling software, but natively will run at 720p HD (1280 x 720p) at rendering level.
The new COD game will be released next week on November 5 in the UK for Xbox 360 and PS3 and will be a launch title for both the PS4 and Xbox One when they launch on November 29 and 22 respectively.
“We optimised each console to hit 60fps and the game looks great on both,” he added.
The Call of Duty: Ghosts news comes after EA Games confirmed Battlefield 4 will also suffer a similar resolution disadvantage on the Xbox One.
Battlefield 4 will render at 900p HD (1600 x 900p) on PS4 but only 720p HD on the Xbox One.
EA Games’ upcoming shooter will launch tomorrow, November 1, in the UK and has been praised by critics overall.
The next-generation editions of both upcoming FPS titles are hotly anticipated by consumers, with some retailers offering discount and special offer upgrade packages for both games.
It will interesting to see if other games on the Xbox One will suffer a resolution downgrade in comparison to their PS4 counterparts.
