Call of Duty: Ghosts gameplay trailer to be unveiled ahead of E3 2013

A Call of Duty: Ghosts gameplay trailer is inbound, with publisher Activision confirming it will offer new insight into the game ahead of E3 2013.

Set to be formally unveiled this Sunday, June 9, the first Call of Duty: Ghosts gameplay trailer will make a pre-E3 appearance, with the Los Angeles based gaming expo to begin on Tuesday June 11. Bridging the COD unveiling and the start of the full show, both Sony and Microsoft are to hold conferences on Monday to discuss their respective new consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One.

Confirmed at the purpose of a live 30 minute webcast, Activision has revealed the COD: Ghosts event will offer “an exclusive first look at gameplay levels from the title.”

Formally unveiled earlier this year and set to launch for existing and next-gen platforms, the Call of Duty: Ghosts gameplay trailer will share the pre-E3 stage with a raft of further COD 2013 insights from Activision. The publisher has said the announcement will feature “behind the scenes footage, interviews with the Infinity Ward team and more.”

Kicking off at 11am local time (7PM BST), the Call of Duty: Ghosts event comes after Activision confirmed the title would see Xbox owners, including those making the jump to the Xbox One, gain early access to DLC content releases. This continues an exclusivity deal rolled over from past COD offerings.

A new chapter in the Call of Duty franchise, Ghosts was repeatedly rumoured as lining up to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 ahead of unveiling.

“Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we’re not resting on our laurels,” Mark Rubin, executive producer of Infinity Ward said at launch. “We saw the console transition as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter for Call of Duty. So we’re building a new sub-brand, a new engine, and a lot of new ideas and experiences for our players. We can’t wait to share them with our community.”
