Sledgehammer Games has released a fix for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it seems it hasn’t fixed all the game’s bugs.
Sledgehammer Games tweeted a link to the update page, which has recently had new entries for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. The latest update should mean fixed marksman and camp challenges don’t reset when you Prestige, the ping bar should now update correctly, there have been adjustments to challenges to unlock camos for weapons, you should be able to unlock eSports Rule Options in Private Match, and you should no longer spawn in spectator mode when you try to join a match.
However, some users are reporting the fix introduces some issues of its own. One user wrote: “I just randomly freeze and have to hard reset. 9 times out of 10 it’s during the pre-game lobby countdown. I can still see my character shift, and the music continues, but my controls are locked and the timer is stopped. When this happens I have to turn my ps3 off and then back on.”
Others are reporting the same issue with the disc copy.
The problems haven’t harmed the game’s popularity, however. Activision announced it was the biggest entertainment launch of the year, outpacing all other video games, movies, music and books. According to info from Xbox Live, PSN and Activision’s own estimates, the game is the highest-selling digital launch in console history.
Overall, the CoD franchise has surpassed $10 billion (£6.4 billion) since its first instalment.
