BT Retail has launched its fastest ever broadband offering a limited selection of the country the chance to get a 100Mbps connection.
This offering from BT matches the 100Mbps offering from Virgin Media which offers the lightening-fast connection to around 800,000 homes throughout the UK. However BT is claiming that its upload speeds of 15Mbps, 50 per cent higher than that of Virgin Media, which is 10Mbps.
BT Infinity Option 3 is a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) product based on the Openreach FTTH roll-out with the service costing £35-a-month – which includes unlimited evening and weekend calls on an 18 month contract. There is also no usage limit or connection fee. The engineer will install the last few metres of fibre, including an Openreach fibre termination device.
John Petter, managing director of BT’s Consumer division, said: “We are delighted to launch BT Infinity Option 3, which offers our fastest-ever speeds for consumers. We are seeing very encouraging takeup of our fibre-based broadband and we now have more than 300,000 customers.
“Today’s addition expands our product offering, so we now have three versions of BT Infinity offering high speeds that allow families to do more online at the same time.”
BT Infinity Option 3 will be available from a limited number of exchanges initially, with customers in Highams Park and Leytonstone in London, Ilford in Redbridge, Ashford in Middlesex, Forest Hill in Lewisham, Chester, York, St. Austell and Exeter among the first to have the opportunity to purchase it.
