Brian Blessed to record bespoke O2 voicemails
Brian Blessed has been recruited exclusively by O2 to record tailor-made voicemail messages for its HTC Windows Phone 8X and HTC Windows Phone 8S customers.
The actor, best known for his deep and booming voice in roles such as Prince Vultan in Flash Gordon or King Richard IV in Blackadder, will be lending his thundering tones to help mark the launch of the two new HTC Windows Phone 8 handsets for O2.
The first 100 customers purchasing a new HTC Windows Phone 8S or HTC Windows Phone 8X who tweet @O2 with the hashtag #brianmail between January 28 and February 4 will receive their unique voicemail.
Successful O2 Customers will be able to boast a completely unique voicemail message from Blessed, created using their name and interests for a personal touch.
“I’m thrilled to be lending my vocal talents to the good folk at O2,” Blessed said. “I’m planning to have a lot of fun with the voicemail messages, and leave the caller amused, confused and generally bewildered.”
The voicemails will be sent in high sound quality straight to the winning customers’ new HTC Windows 8 handsets, also receiving a copy to their email inbox too.
“Brian Blessed’s a cult hero and a voicemail message by him will make our customers’ new Windows Phone 8 by HTC phones even more personalised than before,” David Johnson, General Manager for O2 UK said. “recording a good voicemail is always tricky and having a national treasure like Brian record yours for you is a chance that doesn’t come by all that often.”
Voicemails will be sent to winning customers in March after the O2 Twitter team carry out the necessary checks, including proof of purchase.
