Bowers & Wilkins has expanded its Zeppelin speaker range to feature a new wireless entry.

The Zeppelin Wireless looks largely the same as its forebear, but the internals have been completely revamped.

“There’s the same instantly recognizable silhouette, but every element of the speaker has been redesigned to deliver superlative audio performance; once again redefining what is possible from a single speaker system,” says a Bowers & Wilkins press release.

A key change is the introduction of five completely new drive units.

B&W’s new speaker offers up two Double Dome tweeters, two mid-range drivers, and a new, larger 6.5-inch subwoofer.

The latter has an ultra-long voice coil that should allow for deep bass at high volume.

The cabinet has also been modified and reinforced in an effort to reduce vibrations. That’ll give the drivers a more solid platform to work from.

There’s also brand new Digital Signal Processing that B&W claims is twice as powerful as its predecessor.

Connectivity comes courtesy of AirPlay, Bluetooth aptX, and Spotify Connect, which covers most bases.

There’s also an Ethernet port on the rear, as well as a standard auxiliary port that’ll be useful for owners of Google’s new Sonos-mimicking Chromecast Audio.

Alongside the reveal of the new speaker, Bowers & Wilkins has updated its Control app, which works across iOS, Android, Mac, and PC.

The company says the software changes make it easier and more convenient for users to control volume and playback functions.

The Zeppelin Wireless is available to buy right now, and costs £499 in the UK.
