Bose launches Sonos rivalling SoundTouch Wi-Fi music systems

Bose has launched a new range of Sonos rivals, with the Bose SoundTouch Wi-Fi music systems officially unveiled.

Connecting wirelessly with internet radio or music services via home Wi-Fi, the Bose sound systems offer six presets which can be personalised to favourite channels, including Pandora. Attending a wider range of needs, the Bose SoundTouch is AirPlay enabled, meaning it can also play content from an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch devices.

“SoundTouch Wi-Fi systems are unlike any home sound system available today,” said Phil Hess, vice president of Bose Home Entertainment.

“They let you stream your favourite stations, playlists or artists in the easiest way imaginable, and they sound amazing. We believe SoundTouch systems will change music at home the way Bluetooth speakers changed music on-the-go.”

Bose SoundTouch Features

Kicking off with a trio of devices, Bose has confirmed that the three strong range of Bose SoundTouch Wi-Fi music systems will be followed later in the year by further additions.

The Bose SoundTouch 30 Wi-Fi system is powerful enough to serve as a home’s main music device, featuring exclusive waveguide technology and a new proprietary woofer. It measures 25.4cm x 43.2cm x 17.8cm.

The smaller Bose SoundTouch 20 Wi-Fi system still offers natural sound but measures a more petite 17.8cm x 30.5cm x 10.2cm.

Finally, and as an even tinier device,  the Bose SoundTouch Portable Wi-Fi system is just 15.2cm x 25.4cm x 7.6cm and can be carried around the home. It combines full-range audio and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

The products can be used alone or together for multi-room play experience. They can be operated either by using a circular SoundTouch premium controller or by downloading the Bose SoundTouch app to a smartphone, tablet or computer.

Bose SoundTouch Price and Availability
The first Bose SoundTouch Wi-Fi products have hit Bose retail stores today with the SoundTouch 30 system priced at £599.95, and the SoundTouch 20 and SoundTouch Portable systems both £349.95. They’ll be joined by a SoundTouch version of the Wave music system later this year.

Jewel Cube speakers and the VideoWave entertainment system are due to be SoundTouch enabled, alongside other devices, next year.
