A new splurge of information has given us the best look at the BlackBerry’s first Android phone yet.
It’s no secret that BlackBerry is working on a new smartphone that will run on the Android OS.
It’s called the BlackBerry Venice (at this point at least), and initial leaked snaps have revealed a slider phone that looks more like a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge than a BlackBerry Bold.
Now serial tipster Evan Blass has forwarded some leaked press materials that offer the clearest look at the BlackBerry Venice yet.
The crisp main image above shows the Venice with keyboard extended, and it also displays a decidedly stock-looking version of Android running on it.
Not only do we get a glimpse at the curvy-screened handset itself, but the other image shared by Blass shows the Google Play Store operating on it. Taken with the main image, it confirms that this will be a proper Android phone, rather than some unrecognisably forked version such as the Amazon Fire Phone.
The press materials also reveal a content-transfer app for those migrating from older BlackBerry devices, as well as the ability to mirror content from the Venice onto a second screen – be that a laptop, tablet, or smart TV.

In addition to these revealing pics, Blass also shares that the BlackBerry Venice is “confirmed for November release on all four national US carriers.”
As for specs, it’s been suggested that the Venice will be on a par with current high-end Android phones such as the aforementioned Galaxy S6. It could feature a 5.4in Quad HD screen, a Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB of RAM, and an 18-megapixel main camera.
