BlackBerry Q10 is Selfridges’ fastest selling gadget

Selfridges has announced that the BlackBerry Q10 is now its fastest selling technology product ever, after the physical keyboard BB10 handset went on sale on Friday April 26.

Launching as a Selfridges exclusive in its London, Birmingham and Manchester stores, the BlackBerry Q10 became the retail store’s quickest selling gadget in the first 24 hours, with initial stock selling out across the stores in 2 hours.

“The BlackBerry Q10 has been, without a doubt, the most highly anticipated smartphone we have ever sold and is already our most successful,” said Selfridges’ Head of Home and Leisure Julian Slim. “Our partnership has proven to be a powerful combination of great technology and commercial success.”

Pre-orders for the BlackBerry Q10 handset launched Wednesday April 24 on the Selfridges website. Within two days the page had already received 30,000 page views.

“The BlackBerry Q10 blends the power of the BlackBerry 10 platform with the hugely successful BlackBerry physical QWERTY keyboard and is a perfect combination for BlackBerry customers.”

Unveiled in January alongside BlackBerry 10 OS flagship the BlackBerry Z10, the BlackBerry Q10 has a 3.1-inch 720p HD display with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.

With an 8-megapixel camera in the rear and 2-megapixel snapper in the front, the BlackBerry Q10’s main attraction is its full physical QWERTY keyboard, appealing to business users loyal to the Canadian smartphone manufacturer.

“The BlackBerry Q10 represents the next chapter in the BlackBerry 10 story and we are delighted that it has been so well received,” said Rob Orr, Manager Director of BlackBerry UK and Ireland. “This initial success at Selfridges highlights the strong consumer demand for a high-end physical keyboard smartphone.”

A general launch for the 10.4mm thick BlackBerry Q10 smartphone is predicted for the near future. Original rumours told of June availability, but we expect to see a wider release of the Q10 much sooner.
