BlackBerry manufacturer RIM has revealed the long awaited BlackBerry 10 launch date with the company’s next-generation smartphone OS to land on January 30.

Having previously been planned to land in 2012, RIM confirmed earlier this year that the long overdue BlackBerry 10 release date had been pushed back to 2013 with today’s announcement the first confirmation of the iOS 6 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rival’s arrival.

"In building BlackBerry 10, we set out to create a truly unique mobile computing experience that constantly adapts to your needs," RIM CEO Thorsten Heins said. "We believe our customers will have the best experience possible with BlackBerry 10. We are looking forward to getting BlackBerry 10 in the hands of our customers around the world."

As well as outing the latest operating system, RIM has revealed that the BB10 launch will see the unveiling of two new BlackBerry handsets with Sky News reporting that the Canadian smartphone behemoth will launch “both touchscreen and keyboard versions.”

BlackBerry 10 Features
A whole new direction for the flailing BlackBerry brand, RIM has confirmed that BlackBerry 10 will see the company move to a fully touch optimised OS with both touchscreen and full QWERTY led handsets reportedly on the cards from the former giant of the smartphone scene.

Attempting to offer a more immersive and smoother user experience, BlackBerry 10 handsets will feature the new BlackBerry Flow UI which will allow users to swipe between apps and menus without having to jump back and forth between programmes much like you do on the iPhone 5 and other iOS handsets.

Centring the system around the BlackBerry Hub, the localised system for all manner of email, messaging and call notifications, the BlackBerry Flow UI offers instant access to the hub at any point for a more seamless user experience than many current mobile systems.

Maintaining the business roots of the BlackBerry brand whilst embracing the more personal appeal the company has received in recent years thanks its large to its BBM BlackBerry Messenger service, upcoming BlackBerry 10 handsets will also boast BlackBerry Balance, a selection of software which creates a split between work and casual accounts.

Helping create a better work-life balance, the new BlackBerry Balance services allows users to switch between the two modes, literally switching off at the end of the working day.

BlackBerry 10 Release Date
Set to launch in the weeks following CES 2013, the world’s largest annual tech convention, the newly confirmed January 30 BlackBerry 10 launch date will see the latest BlackBerry OS launched on the build up to MWC 2013 and the arrival of new high-end smartphone devices from Samsung, HTC, Sony and all the other key handset players.
