BiteBite is a wearable that improves your eating habits

It’s not only what you eat that impacts on your waistline, it’s how you eat it too. BiteBite promises to analyse your eating habits and help you lose weight.

Studies have shown that when you chew for longer, it improves your digestion and slows you down, meaning you feel full sooner. BiteBite keeps a log of what you eat (though you have to say it out loud, which could be a bit embarrassing if you’re in a public place), analyses how thoroughly and how quickly you chew, and learns how often you eat and where. It then gives you suggestions based on that data to help you eat more healthily.

There’s a downside. You have to wear it in your ear, which looks a bit odd. The makers insist it doesn’t interfere with your hearing, but it doesn’t look too comfortable.

There’s also a wristband that you can pop it into when you’re not eating.

You can see all your info using the app on your smartphone.

It’s not ideal having to remember to put it in your ear. But if it can help people lose weight, then it should be a success. It’s already passed its $60,000 funding goal on Indiegogo, and there are still 33 days to go.

Pledge $119 (£76), and it can be yours. It should ship in June next year.
