2K Games has announced the original BioShock will soon be available for iOS devices.
One of the defining games of the last generation consoles, 2K Games has revealed the first BioShock will soon be offered for Apple’s touch-screen devices.
Arriving at an unannounced date in the near future, BioShock will offer optimised touch controls or you can utilise the Made for iPhone game controller support.
That means you could play BioShock on your iOS device using the likes of the Logitech Powershell or SteelSeries Stratus.
As for the pricing level, 2K Games has promised that BioShock is a “premium title” and will therefore have a premium price tag to go with it.
Similar to the 2K Grand Theft Auto adaptation, you will have to pay around the £5 mark for BioShock (pricing yet to be officially confirmed), but don’t expect to see any in-app purchases or microtransactions of any kind.
Bioshock for iOS will be compatible with the following iOS devices: iPad 4, iPad mini 2 Retina, iPad Air and on the smartphone side, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
The original BioShock was released back in 2007, developed by Irrational Games. It was received with great aplomb by the gaming media, with TrustedReviews giving it the rare 10/10 score for its efforts.
We’re intrigued as to how the atmospheric FPS will translate to a small, touch screen device and to whether it will lose some of its appeal in the transition.
Plus, there’s got to be some major graphics downgrades there, but we’ll hold fire on our observations until we get our hands on the game.
There’s no word on an official release date for the iOS edition yet, but it’s pencilled in for some time later this summer.
