BFI Player+ is a film streaming service for movie fans

BFIplayer+

The British Film Institute has launched a new video on demand subscription service called BFI Player+.

The streaming service is available for £4.99 a month and functions as part of the existing BFI Player.

BFI Player+ features around 300 titles including David Cronenberg’s ‘Dead Ringers’ and Sergei M. Eisenstein’s ‘Battleship Potemkin’.

The available films are organised by genres, directors, and collections ranging from Documentaries and Family to British Classics and Horror.

Subscribers can also browse indie releases and the ‘Unavailable on DVD’ and ‘Experimenta’ collections promise to provide some of the more esoteric content.

Film critic Mark Kermode will be introducing a specific film each week and explaining its significance, starting with Alfred Hitchcock’s The Lodger.

Films will also be grouped into collections based on BFI festivals such as the BFI London Film Festival and BFI Flare LGBT event.

BFI Player+ is only available on desktop, tablet, and phones so don’t expect to stream any of its 300 movies on your gaming console or smart TV.
