Bezel-free Sony Xperia C5 Ultra leaks

Sony has let slip a bold new smartphone with a bezel-less display, the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra.

The Japanese manufacturer may not have set the smartphone world alight so far in 2015, but it’s got at least one intriguing device planned for imminent release.

We know this because the company recently leaked a manual for a new phone, the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra.

As Xperiablog points out, the defining feature of the Xperia C5 Ultra is its complete lack of side bezels, giving an edge to edge impression to its display.

The manual also reveals some of the Xperia X5 Ultra’s specs. These include a 13-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage with microSD support. It’ll also feature an iPhone-like nano SIM slot and NFC, if you’re interested.

Other rumoured specs that would appear to confirm this include a 5.5-inch 1080p display and a MediaTek MT6752 CPU.

As these specs suggest, this won’t be a flagship phone by any means. Rather, it should be a stylish mid-ranger aimed at taking on the raft of impressive Android smartphones currently coming out of China.

Of course, with the recent announcement of the OnePlus 2, which looks to offer high-end credentials for under £300, we suspect that Sony will  need to be extremely aggressive with the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra’s pricing. Or is that bezel-free display enough of a distinctive feature?
