Since it was announced in 2008, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been lost in a haze of speculation, rumour, and delay.
At this point, a release seems just as uncertain as it always has, but there may be a glimmer of hope thanks to project lead Michel Ancel.
The developer has taken to Instagram to share what looks to be concept art for the troubled sequel, suggesting he is back to working on the game.
Ancel wrote the following to accompany the image: "Somewhere in system 4 ... - Thanks ubisoft for making this possible!"

System 4 is a reference to the galaxy where the original Beyond Good and Evil was set, and the piglet that appears in the picture could be a young uncle Pey'j.
It certainly seems there's been some progress in terms of a Beyond Good and Evil sequel then, but just what stage development is at remains unclear.
Considering it's almost been a decade since the next instalment was announced, we're hoping things are slightly more advanced than the preliminary concept art stage.
Ancel himself is currently at work on Wild – a game that involves possessing animals – but it seems he's turning at least some of his attention to Beyond Good and Evil 2.
A rumour earlier this year suggested the long-delayed game was to be a Nintendo NX exclusive when it launches, which makes sense considering Ubisoft has said it will support the upcoming console with multiple games.
We're expecting further developments soon so stay tuned for more updates in the near future.
