Best home appliances of 2014 named at TrustedReviews Awards

The home may be where the heart is, but it’s also where you keep your prized tech appliances too.

Our discerning band of judges has taken a gander at a selection of the finest home-borne fare to find out which tech comes out on top.

The Miele WMR 560 WPS ran circles – or rather spun cycles – around the competition to take home the Best Washing Machine of 2014 prize.

The WMR 560 WPS bagged a 10/10 in our review, seeing praise for its build quality, class leading performance, and distinct lack of noise.

Next up was the Samsung Food ShowCase, a frankly otherworldly appliance that bagged the Best Fridge Freezer award for 2014.

The superstar food cooler also managed to score a tough-to-crack 10/10, getting a big TrustedReviews thumbs-up for its stylish design, outstanding cooling performance, and impressive energy efficiency.

Finally comes the crème de la crème of vacuum cleaner world and winner of our Best Vacuum Cleaner 2014 award – the Dyson DC41 Animal.

This superb sucker scored 10/10 in our review, lauded for being powerful and manoeuvrable, with great stair-cleaning features and a solid bag of peripheral kit.

Andy Vandervell, Home Appliance Editor at TrustedReviews, said: “This is the first time we’ve handed out awards for home appliances and this year’s winners are a testament to the fantastic innovation and commitment to quality in this sector.”

“The Miele WMR 560 WPS blew us away with its cleaning results, we loved the innovation and design of the Samsung Food ShowCase, and the Dyson DC41 Animal sets the bar for all to follow.”

He added: “You only need to look at the quality of products that didn’t win, such as the Bosch Athlet and Samsung RF24, to see how impressive these products are.”
