Nexus 7 32GB 2012 First Gen Nexus 7 2012

TrustedReviews Score: 9/10

Deal Price: £109.99 – SAVE £90

The original Nexus 7 was superseded by the 2013 version but it remains an accomplished tablet, especially at this price. The 32GB version you can buy here is still being sold for £199.99 in Argos. At this price it’s a bargain and we think it trumps the more expensive Tesco Hudl and Asus MemoPad both in terms of design and performance. .

Headline misleading to say the least. Not £250 off an iPad, it's £79.01 off.
The total is £250 off if you bought all three devices.
Is this a cynical ploy to get people to click this article?

Great. Adverts masquerading as "news" articles.

March 28, 2014, 12:25 pm

I appreciate cynicism is the overriding mentality of 80% of the internet, but what exactly is the harm in highlighting deals to people and I don't really understand how it's masquerading as news. I think it's it's pretty clear from the headline and image that this is a 'deals' post and not 'news' in the traditional sense.

March 28, 2014, 12:26 pm

The headline is accurate, as you say. However I agree it is a little confusing. We've amended it now.

Maybe create a new subsection called "Deals" then, rather than publishing it under the "News" section?

March 28, 2014, 12:41 pm

If we could, we would, but that sadly that isn't the work of but a moment. Personally I think the image and headline are quite clear as to what to expect.

I can appreciate that - having worked on websites in the past. From past experience, I just see the words "teamed up with", and in my head, that gets changed to "paid by", which to me turns it into an advert. I may be wrong (I probably am), but that's just the way I see these things.
