Battlefield: Hardline gameplay detailed by EA

EA Games has detailed some of the Battlefield: Hardline gameplay features during its E3 2014 press conference.

Ahead of the game’s release date on October 21, EA Games has revealed some of the game’s multiplayer and single player portions.

“It’s a new game that puts you right in the middle of the war on the street between cops and robbers”, explained EA Games.

DICE and Visceral Games, which is responsible for the single-player campaign of Battlefield: Hardline, have still focused on the core attractions of the Battlefield multiplayer, namely: “team play, strategy, lots of vehicles, huge battles, and, of course, destruction”.

In terms of multiplayer, Battlefield: Hardline will offer up to 32 players in one match and will introduce a new match type called Heist.

This multiplayer mode will see teams of criminals try and break into a bank, blow up the vault and steal its “loot”. Teams of cops must go against them, trying to stop them from getting the swag away.

As for the single player campaign, EA Games states that it is “much more like a TV drama than a traditional shooter”.

Previous leaks suggest the story campaign will be structured episodically, like entries in a police cop drama, building on the existing structure of Battlefield titles.

EA also revealed that the Battlefield: Hardline beta will open today, June 9, exclusively for PS4 and PC gamers ahead of the game’s release date on October 21.
