Battlefield 5 to be police-themed, released in 2014?

Will these classes be replaced by police ranks?

According to the latest reports, Battlefield 5 will be released later this year and be police-themed.

If a new report is correct, Visceral is working on a police-themed Battlefield 5 title rumoured to launch in the latter half of 2014.

The Polygon sources reveal the game is currently going under the codename “Havana” and will feature a police-based storyline, rather than the usual army affair.

A late 2014 Battlefield 5 release date would not be out of the question, as Battlefield tends to be released around the end of October/beginning of November.

Battlefield 4 was released on November 1 2013 for current gen consoles and PC, so we could see this matched by Battlefield 5.

A new IP for EA Games as well

EA Games is also working on an “exciting new IP”, teased by some new job listings on the EA jobs pages.

There’s a UI artist listing for a next-gen game from Visceral Games that will include “a complex network of selection and customisation” options.

“This is a major opportunity to contribute creatively to an exciting new IP,” reads the UI artist job listing.

EA Games is also advertising for an environment artist, but there’s no indication as to what the game the job is assigned to.

Listings also include a VFX artist and senior environment texture artist to work on “an exciting unique franchise”, which could be another title altogether or Battlefield 5.

Laughable. I can tell you right now that a battlefield 5 will not be released this year, please end that rumor!

no they won't, it's completely obvious they won't. Only DICE makes battlefield games, there is no way they would outsource a new battlefield to a different studio with different interests at heart, plus the DLC for battlefield 4 is going to run in the same order as battlefield 3 did, why would EA abandon BF4 half way through the DLC year? It doesn't make any logical sense.

Plus this game is still dodgy as hell, EA wouldn't risk sending out an unfinished game two years in a row.

However, this does raise the question, is EA is going down the Activision route with Infinity Ward and Treyarch to make as much cash as possible? Only time will tell but I hope to dear god they do not cash out, battlefield is unique this way. It doesn't need a new release every year.

If you look at the DLC schedule it all ends in Summer 2014. So maybe...
