Battlefield 4 teaser site launched by EA Games

Electronic Arts has launched a teaser site for its new Battlefield 4 game, ahead of further information being released about EA’s upcoming FPS.

The teaser site confirms that the game’s first gameplay trailer will launch on March 27, with users encouraged to log into their EA Origin accounts to unveil more of the image pictured on the site – a close-up of tanks making their way through a rain-drenched landscape.

The site is captioned with the phrase: “Come back March 27 for a first look at gameplay.”

Anyone logging in will also receive an exclusive “I was there” dogtag for use in the current Battlefield 3 game. For more information users are also asked to share the teaser site on Facebook, Twitter, Google and Reddit, but as far as we can see it doesn’t give any more information after posting.

EA has already confirmed that the Battlefield 4 release date would be announced at the game’s launch event on March 26 at 7pm local for the videogame press, running alongside the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. UK gamers will have to wait until 2am GMT on March 27 to hear the news.

The Battlefield 4 launch event was also teased in a new Vine video via the official Battlefield Twitter feed with the announcement: “Straight from the video editing suite: Prepare 4 Battle – 03.27! This sneak peek now, more soon. (Please RT…”

Battlefield 4 will be launching on next-generation consoles, including the recently unveiled Sony PS4.

“I have seen the new Battlefield, and it is just stunning,” said EA CFO, Blake Jorgensen. “It is amazing what the imagination of the game developers are allowed to do with that much power.”

Rumours suggested that a lack of Battlefield 4 info at the PS4 launch could mean that the title will be an Xbox 720 exclusive, but Jorgensen was quick to rubbish such claims.

“It was more about timing of our own slate as well as trying to maintain a good balance of power with all the parties out there and choosing when to unveil certain pieces of software,” said Jorgensen at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference last month.
