Batman: Return to Arkham delayed indefinitely

Batman: Return to Arkham, the collection of HD versions of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City which was set to launch this month, has been delayed indefinitely, Warner Bros. has confirmed.

The remasters were set to include all DLC and the game was set to arrive this month on PS4 and Xbox One, but now Warner Bros. has confirmed the game needs additional polish by developer Virtuous Games, with no new release date given.

“After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience,” a Warner Bros. spokesperson reiterated to us,” Warner Bros. said in a statement (via Eurogamer).

“We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready. We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”

Eurogamer also reports that, according to sources, the game may not hit shelves until November at the very earliest.

With the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, the third entry in the series, suffering such catastrophic issues on PC with its terrible performance and delays, as well as being cancelled for OS X, fans will surely be unsettled by this news.

Considering the PC version was also ported by a different company, Iron Galaxy, it seems that Warner Bros. is once again having issues with developers it uses to handle ports of its major titles.
