Bang & Olufsen has decided to mark the 25th anniversary of the original release of its iconic Form 2 headphones by giving them a new lick of paint.
The unique-looking headphones from the Danish manufacturers of high-end audio-visual products were previously available only in black/aluminium colouring but to celebrate the anniversary, B&O has released the Form 2 headphones in red, orange, yellow and white.
If we are to believe the promotional shots sent to us from B&O, the company will be targeting female audiophiles with its new range of colours, but we’re sure they will flog you a set even if you do have a Y chromosome.
The Form 2 headphones offer a semi-open configuration to let in some of the noise from the world around you and even though they may not look like headphones you would wear while jogging, the head of B&O would tend to disagree.
“I never leave my house without my Form 2 headphones and I even had a pair custom-made to match the colours of the Danish flag when I hosted a BeoSound 8 speaker dock in China,” says Tue Mantoni, President and CEO. “I had a lot of very positive comments to the headphones on that occasion, so I believe there’s still interest out there.”
The acoustic design remains identical to the origin with dynamic drive units offering “a true, well-defined sound stage with a good bass, a focused middle and precise highs, allowing you to shut out the world and submerge yourself in pure, listening pleasure.”
While B&O has not announced a price for the new headphones, considering the current black model sells for around £100, we imagine the new line-up will sell for a similar amount.
Let us know what you think of the new colours and whether a fresh lick of paint would tempt you to purchase these 25-year-old headphones.
